Pair pasta and sauce properly
The shape of the pasta affects how well a sauce clings to it. We explain which pasta suits delicate, creamy or robust sughi, how much to allow per person and which Italian wine will complement your dish.
Discover selected specialities from across Italy. Enjoy aromatic caffè, cornetti, freshly filled panini, piadina and focaccia, or find new favourites to enjoy at home.
Are you planning to cook Italian food, entertain guests or give someone a special treat? Tell us what you have in mind, how many people you are catering for and which flavours you enjoy. Massimo and the team will help you coordinate quantities, flavours and preparation. Together, we will create a selection that truly suits your occasion.

A good platter combines mild and bold salumi and formaggi with olives, artichokes, preserved vegetables and crisp accompaniments. We help you choose quantities and combinations so every bite remains interesting.
Small portions, suitable glasses and a clear schedule make entertaining easy. We explain what you can prepare in advance and what should only be served at the last moment.
You do not need to speak Italian. We translate product names, explain regional differences and show you how to use your selection at home.
Rather than an arbitrary assortment, we create a thoughtful theme. The occasion, preferences and budget shape its character, selection and personal impact.
Massimo and the team will advise you personally in the Mercato. If you are planning a larger occasion, you can send us your requirements in advance using the contact form.

Mercato Amami Italia brings the warmth and friendly atmosphere of an Italian mercato to Weiden in the Upper Palatinate. It is about more than a quick shop. There is time for your questions, clear explanations and honest recommendations. Owner Massimo Azzarone and his team want you to feel welcome, discover something new with confidence and go home with an idea that suits you.
A warm welcome, a personal conversation and time to explore are all part of a good visit.
We explain unfamiliar terms, differences in flavour and how products are used, without assuming any specialist knowledge.
Ask us about origin, preparation or combinations. Even a vague idea can become a clear plan through conversation.
The Mercato is a meeting place for people from Weiden and the northern Upper Palatinate who want to experience Italian food culture personally.
Our Italian grocery shop is at Leibnizstraße 2 in Weiden. Customers from Weiden, Neustadt an der Waldnaab and across the northern Upper Palatinate will find authentic products for pasta dishes, antipasti platters, Italian menus, relaxed evenings and special gifts. Parking is available directly outside the shop.
Start your day with something delicious or enjoy an Italian break later on. Our breakfast range is available throughout our regular opening hours. Choose a sweet cornetto, a freshly filled panino, a warm piadina or aromatic focaccia with your espresso or cappuccino. We explain the Italian terms below.
In Italy, ordering a caffè will normally bring you an espresso. We also offer cappuccino and other coffee specialities made with beans from Italy.
A cornetto resembles a croissant, but is usually a little softer and sweeter. It is enjoyed plain or filled, for example with crema, chocolate or fruit.
Panino means a filled Italian bread, while panini is the plural. We prepare them fresh, for example with prosciutto, mortadella, mozzarella or pesto.
Piadina comes from Emilia Romagna. This thin flatbread is warmed, filled with savoury ingredients and is ideal for a quick Italian meal.
Focaccia is a soft yeast bread traditionally baked with olive oil. Enjoyed plain or topped, it makes a savoury Italian breakfast.
Dolci is the collective term for sweet specialities. Depending on the daily selection, you may find cannoli, amaretti, biscotti and other Italian treats.
The selection and fillings may vary according to the daily offering. Please ask us which cornetti and freshly prepared specialities are currently available.
